MUSIC

I listen to a lot of music and try my best to listen to all kinds of different stuff just cause I'm curious. Being apart of a radio station deos help a lot thought on expanding my taste and getting to get into more local vibes.

febble little horse

Never have I been more excited for a bands future projects. I had been listening to them a while with not diving to deep til recently with their single This is Real of which is just.... It is a 3:07 track and it feels like it should be double that with just how much it is trying to do AND GETS AWAY WITH!!! Don't know what kind of magic it took to make but damn. That single lead to a look back into them of which on a surface level with their popular sounds they have a very lo-fi shoegazey grunge vibe to them with this whole electric cracks and pops deal with their amps that is just the sprinkles on top. But a deeper dive has lead me to just how expirenmental and intresting this band. One of my favorites 'Chores' is has yet again this muted feel to it like the brightness is been shifted through the song with it blaring the power of the sun in the chorus/bridge. The music video for it is also amazing with it all seeming to be hand drawn crayon animation. It seem like feeble little horse has some kind of core that they carry to each song which for me is this kind of warmth you can feel mostly with how instruments come in and out whether thats sudden or crepping and how it goes with this story they are trying to tell. The production of everything is great but still has a sound that does not make it sound like it is sterile, with it not being afraid to get crunchy and mucky at points. With only two albums as of writing this it is a great time to get in on the ground floor of feeble little horse.

Car Seat Headrest
This is a band that I have many mixed feeling on. I mean I could talk about the band itself and all thatv but I'm just going to focus on the music cuz that is why we are here. I used to fully love this band, with a major staple memory of me listening to Cute Thing while I would bike back home from working at Chick-fil-a. I would try to line the song up so that right when it was about to end I would be basically home. I was basically making a music video in my head. Albums like Twin Fantasy or Teens of Denial for me are filled with gay agnst and just so much energy. Both of them also have this sort of theme or rock opera vibe to it, espically Twin Fantasy with all the motifs melodies that come in and out and the short interludes like Stop Smoking We Love You or the Intro. Also every song on that ablum is very long with the second to last being a 16 min journey that shifts and changes into so much, that effectively transitions into the finalie of the album. Oh also forgot to mention some of the early eps and records which are bit more rough like Living While Straving or How to Leave Town, but they still have a lot of ideas and complex structure that is really built up into the later stuff they made. You can feel the progression of the band and growth through their sound whether it be the vocals being a bit more gruff and later being fuckin idk how to describe but just so much better and confident. Sad thing is that that growth stopped after Twin Fantasy and they started to move into a whole new sound that I do not think suits them that well. Making a Door Less Open has some good stuff, but it feels so smaey and muddy compared to other. Scholars I have not really dived into but the singles I had listen to were just ugh. I still love this band for what they have made but I'll just say I won't go to any concerts anytime soon. P.S Although they do have a side project called 1 Trait Danger that is this great comedy band that has music that slaps way to hard to just be kind of jokey.
